Tranquil lakeside setting. Helpful staff and clean facilities. Just the place to relax after visiting Rome by cheap bus & train direct from site.
We intended to stay at another site which we disliked on arrival, so it was luck that bought us to this site. Reception was friendly and helpful, good English spoken. We chose our own pitch, which was large, flat and had a lovely view of the lake. We were out of season so the pool was closed and the shop, bar & restaurant had limited hours - when they were open the service was very good. Toilet block was clean, no toilet paper or seats. Showers were good. Bus to station and on to Rome stopped at the site. We intended to stay for three days and stayed for eight as we were relaxed and comfortable. Would happily return.
We got a fantastic pitch right on the edge of the lake. Staff very pleasant and helpful. The camp gives out a booklet which is a very helpful summary of what to do in the area as well as basic campsite information. We couldn’t get electricity initially but on checking at reception was given a fuse to put into the supply box. Only one toilet block open and no toilet paper. Showers great – plenty of space to keep clothes dry and ‘proper’ shower taps i.e. temperature adjustable and on/off rather than timed button. Most sinks only have cold water. Lights went off too early in morning and on too late at night making it murky. Toilets are rather unusual. In that seat is sprung loaded and as it rises it releases a whiff of disinfectant. Wifi to pay but service was good. Campsite was being tidied quickly whilst we were there. Tennis court, football pitch, volley ball and basketball areas as well as children’s playground all looked good and pool opened on 1st June although we didn’t use it. Swam in lake instead. Pitches immediately behind lakeside pitches are darker because of large tree cover but there are more open pitches behind. Not sure if we’d be able to keep our car at the pitch in height of season. Used the bus into Bracciano town and then the train into Rome and both were good although trains were usually late! Were originally planning to stay for 5 nights but ended up staying 8. One downside was noise from planes. The lake is right under the flight path for planes coming into Rome airport which is a shame. Mostly noticeable in mornings and evenings. Also the trees release resinous sap (Lime?) which sticks to everything and had to wash car twice whilst there. Also had to wash camper when we had left the site. Bracciano is a lovely lively town and would certainly stay here again.
A large lakeside site, set mostly in a rather gloomy wood, right next to Lake Bracciano. English speaking reception helpful and the campsite provided a fabulously helpful booklet with lots of details in multiple languages included suggest plans for days out in Rome. The toilet and restaurant facilities were very good but for some reason the women’s showers run cold occasionally – cold unhappy wife anyone?
Excellent on site very reasonably priced restaurant, with bar and well stocked shop, overlooking Lake – very pretty! Nearby town of Bracciano has good rail links to central Rome – easy touring of Rome. Good pool, tennis courts and childrens play area.
We wanted to do some walking around the lake and surrounding countryside but discovered there’s no lakeside walk (other than about 100 metres on the site) and everywhere else is Private, so no walking!
Choose your pitch well; its very gloomy in the pitches actually in the wood but lakeside ones are OK but only get morning sun. The best sunshine pitches are up nearer the reception. Have a good walk around before choosing.
The condition of the roads leading to the site and around the lake is appalling; lots of pot holes and sinkage, so take care! Recommended, provided you choose a good pitch.
This campsite was the very best I have stayed in. The location was fabulous. Very convenient for travelling into Rome - only about 8 Euros per person for an all day travel ticket which included train and metro.
The campsite has a fabulous lake, shallow, warm and with some fish in it - it was so good we never swam in the swimming pool once.
We had a choice of partial shade or fully shaded site - very, very close to the lake. We choose the full shade option and even in the middle of the afternoon the shade and breeze from lake kept the temperature pleasant.
The campsite provided a fabulously helpful booklet with lots of details in multiple languages included suggest plans for days out in Rome. We have never been given such a detailed and useful booklet on any other campsite.
The toilet and restaurant facilities were very good. The food in the restaurant was not overly expensive - you could get a very nice pizza for just 6 euros.
The woman's showers were sometimes cold.
We stayed 8 nights here had a great time. Everybody really helpful. Used the bus from site to get train to Rome, the Lake was great for swimming. Would stay here again.
