Planned to stay one night as a stopover, but as we liked the site decided to visit the town. We went by bike and route was not clear. Return was better. Town is very nice and visited several beautiful churches. Was well worth the visit. The lake at the campsite was great for a stroll around. We used the restaurant on two evenings. Recommended
It is a shame this site is mainly used as a transit site as it has much more to commend it and we ended up staying 2 weeks. There is a lake alongside which was warm, clean and suitable for swimming. Alongside is grass with a children's playground. Be warned though it can be busy at weekends but you can always find shade amongst the trees. Pitches are reasonable size but not well maintained. A bit of a walk to the toilets if you are at the far end. Wifi is very cheap but only works near the entrance. Small shop but cycle lanes into Augsburg.
We stayed here for one night on the way to Croatia. The site is very popular and there was a queue waiting for the reception to open to book in at 4.00pm. Once booked in we were told to find a pitch. As said below access to everything, including the washrooms and the rubbish areas is via an electronic key. The pitches are ok but not massive. The washrooms are in a block next to the camp shop and cafe. They were ok but not super modern but were clean. We ate at the onsite Italian restaurant which we found excellent. The lake is lovely and well worth a walk. A good site for a visit to Augsburg or a transit stop.
This is a great site located near the motorway. We did go into the town but wouldn't necessarily recommend this but its a good stopover site, nice lake and play area for children and a bar and restaurant that is used by the locals at the weekend
We stayed at this site for 3 nights. It is very well secure as the lake brings in many people who are not staying at the campsite. The facilities are clean and the showers are good. The pitches are badly maintained and it is generally a bit tired. It is very convenient for the A8 motorway. We mainly chose it for this as we were touring through to Austria and we wanted to visit Munich which was a very cheap day return from Augsburg. We also spent a long half day in Augsberg which is a nice town with lots to see.
level well drained pitches all separated by hedging - good access to Motorway and well used as stop-over - about 5K from Augsburg - good cycle route in, also walkable - bus service nearly 1K away but very frequent as serves local suburb - shower block well maintained and frequently cleaned - some good facilities on / close to site which may well be a attraction during high season - the high turn-over makes it all a bit impersonal
We used this campsite as an overnight stop en route to Austria. The touring area is alongside the entrance and fortunately the furthest point from the motorway although there is always a hum in the background. The pitches are a good size and we appreciated the fact that the grass had been overlaid with gravel which is handy, especially for us motorhomers, as it gives a reliable and clean surface. There is free site wide WiFi which is useful. All the facilities, including rubbish disposal are only accessable with the use of an electronic key provided when you book in. The toilet/shower block was very good. Electric points may require a long lead depending on pitch. They have two pin connectors rather than the standard European CEE17 plugs. Had we stayed longer it would make a good site from which to visit Augsburg
Stayed three nights on route north. Good sized pitches seperated by hedges/small trees. Gravel laid over the pitch helps traction but felt a bit dusty. Noise fron the autobahn didn't affect us. Good walk around the autobahn see(lake) adjacent to the site. Within cycling distance of Augsburg and a good spot for a stopover. Toilets could have been a bit cleaner but acceptable. Didn't sample the food at the Italian on site.
Very close to A8 so a lot of "in transit" but noise from road was not a problem. Showers did not seem at all narrow to me. The pitches are large with plenty of shade if needed. Grass could do with mowing more often. Electric boxes are on the end rather than in the middle. Our cable just made it. I am sure they will loan an extension lead if needed. The bus stop is about 800m to walk so allow 20 minutes. Reception will give you the bus timetable. They seem to run approx. twice an hour. You could park on the roadside if you needed to. We enjoyed getting the bus into Augsburg. The city was very interesting and not too big. The Italian restaurant on the site, Passatore, has a pleasant terrace and serves really good quality food. We went twice during a 3 night stay. The lake nearby is a pleasant morning walk. I would not stay a week but would definitely recommend this site.
Great location next to Autobahn so easy to get to. Pitches very tight, even for small caravans. Lots of facilities. We stayed one night on way to Austria; good second stop driving from Calais/Dunkirk. English spoken at reception. Recommended.
