Reception staff very aloof. Site is in a great position with 10 min stroll to Loches. Pitches are well kept with shade. The facilities are very tired and run down sadly. Even ACSI price in June a bit steep for this place.

paid for 3 nights but only stayed 2 as showers were cold. asked if we could get a refund for 3 rd night. I was told no but I asked them to reconsider. people smoking in the back room next to reception. have stayed here before, but after this visit, never again.

Depending on your motorhome width and weight, check your Sat Nav route as it could take you through quite a narrow, congested street. Use the D31/D943 ring road and enter from the south. Great location for visiting Loches and cycling some of the L'Indre a velo route. Quite expensive, probably paying for a swimming pool crowded with families. It is school holidays after all.

Pleasant site beside a river and close to pretty town. Good stopover or longer stay for chateau viewing.

As has been said elsewhere, the best thing about this site is the location. A short walk to the fabulous city of Loche and next to the nature reserve. The site itself has limited sanitary facilities (although they were clean when we visited) and is generally looking tired. Reception was not particularly helpful and there are limited touring pitches available (we had a choice of three) most pitches are now occupied by static tents.

My wife & I stayed at this site for two weeks in July 2023. The site is located only a 5 minute walk from the historic town of Loches. The site has a team of friendly multi lingual staff who try their best to help meet any requests. The negative was that the showers are either cold or lukewarm and the male toilet urinals were out of order for the duration of our stay. The children’s play area has a good adventure area near the bar/restaurant so parents can enjoy a snack/drink whilst being close enough to see the children are safe.

Good campsite. We arrived late morning no issues, planned 1 night but decided to stay 2. Good sized grass pitches. Good heated pools open until 9pm. Showers OK some issue with hot water in showers only lasts for while. Walk through nice park to town. Large market in town on Sat. Lovely old citadel town walk around outside ramparts and inside. TI by roundabout. We also used train to visit Tours.

puts a whole new meaning on the word average.while in the south someone said stop here on way north ..so we did .. beautiful town with citadel..on Sunday a big brick a brack market in the Town so was worth the 2 day stop over. only 2 toilet blocks open which had 3 showers and 2 toilets ..this was enough as most of the site has been turned into a glamping pod/chalet site for seasonal use. not many touring pitches to be found. showers were a bit hit and miss one second hot next cold..wait for a few more pushes on button give up and shower in caravan. didn\'t use pool but looked OK.

Some say you should never go back…….
However, sometimes you’re pleased you did, and sometimes you wish you hadn’t!
This experience belongs in the second category.
In 45 years of caravanning in France this is only the second time I have felt disposed to declare my disappointment in writing. I hope that indicates the seriousness of my comments.
When I telephoned to reserve a pitch at la Citadelle Loches, my inquiry was greeted with warmth. Sadly, when we arrived that person was not on duty and the reception we received from the two people on duty was cool.

We first stayed at Camping la Citadelle in 1998. We stayed again in 2002. Because we had fond memories of our previous visits, we thought it would be nice to go back again. It wasn’t.
Having set up the caravan we decided to walk around and see how it had changed. Well, the word that sums up the overall impression is – scruffy.
Doors to the facilities propped open with broken pieces of paving slab.
No hooks for clothes/towels near men’s basins.
One of the washing -up basins had no waste pipe attached - so if you used that basin you soon discovered your feet were getting wet – this happened to me!
Waste bin area was untidy and some bins overflowing. The entrance to this area is uneven and very stony, and hazardous to anyone who has difficulty walking.
The hot water in the showers isn’t – in fact It is worse than that because approximately 3 minutes after stepping under a warm shower it was running cold. And despite waiting several minutes it continued cold.
The temperature of the water in the washing-up sinks appears to be a matter of luck. Sometime it was hot, sometimes cold - and you cannot wash a greasy pan with cold water.
Several pitches were just caked mud. Several pitches had no electric point, but we were not warned of this when booking-in. On further inspection it became obvious that these pitches are destined to be replaced with cabins and chalets etc.
That is business, but in the meantime large areas are akin to a building site. What makes this worse is it seems very haphazard.

Many of these problems have been encountered by all of us from time to time - but not all at once, at the same site.
We were using our ACSI discount card. I feel for people paying the full fare.
I am not saying “don’t go to this site”, because the town is well worth visiting.
But if you do visit you have prior knowledge of the problems we faced. Perhaps the owners will read this and address some of the issues. I do hope so.

One night stopover,never again. The reception area was excellent, that’s where it stopped. the sanitation areas were dirty. The area around the rubbish bins left a lot to be desired. overpriced for a one night stay.
